In short: the Munsbach Recycling Centre is an attractive local hub that you can turn to for all your waste-related enquiries.
The municipal councils of the four constituent municipalities have set out the detailed terms and conditions for the operation of the recycling centre in an agreement.
A key element of this agreement is the so-called Supervisory Committee, in which the four municipal councils are represented on an equal footing. The committee’s tasks include monitoring the operation of the recycling centre, drawing up the annual budget and initiating awareness-raising and information campaigns.
The municipality of Schuttrange, on whose territory the recycling centre is located, is entitled to chair this supervisory body. The supervisory body may call upon external experts to address specific issues or problems in order to ensure the smooth running of operations.

As a waste collection point, a recycling centre is subject to a rigorous approval process, in which environmental and fire safety requirements play a major role. In particular, the permanently installed stationary collection facility complies with current safety regulations, of which only the most important are outlined below.
The SuperDrecksKëscht®
has been designed as a sealed, acid-, chemical- and fire-resistant area. The floor sealing consists of a polyethylene barrier membrane with an integrated aluminium layer laid beneath the screed. The room’s doors are of T90 quality, meaning they can withstand a fire for at least 90 minutes.
A high-performance ventilation system ensures a five-fold air change per hour in the SuperDrecksKëscht® room, preventing the formation of explosive gas or solvent-air mixtures. In addition, the electrical system components are designed to be ‘explosion-proof’. As an active fire protection measure, an Argonit fire suppression system is installed in the room. This is triggered automatically as soon as the detectors installed in the room detect a fire.
Automatic fire detectors monitor not only the SuperDrecksKëscht® but also the rest of the hall and the surrounding areas. By forwarding alarms to a security company, the fire brigade is guaranteed to be notified in good time, even after working hours. In the event of a fire alarm, smoke extraction hatches in the hall open automatically. Wall-mounted hydrants and several ABC and D-class fire extinguishers inside the building, as well as several external hydrants, provide an additional layer of safety.
To ensure that the safety equipment functions properly in an emergency, it is regularly maintained and inspected.

As part of the Climate Pact and to promote the circular economy, SIAS has launched a new service for residents of its member municipalities in collaboration with Ëmweltberodung Lëtzebuerg a.s.b. (EBL). The ‘Gutt Geschier’ initiative offers the opportunity to borrow tools – whether for DIY or gardening – free of charge, rather than buying them. Thanks to this service, anyone can carry out work at home without having to invest in expensive equipment that might only be used once or twice.
How does this service work ?
Gutt Geschier enables citizens to borrow crafting and garden tools instead of buying them. It allows anyone to go on with their home projects without the need of buying expensive tools that may end up unused.
The “Gutt Geschier” tools are collected from private individuals and companies and form a poolable stock. Thanks to the online reservation system, they are inserted back into the cycle of future users. In this way, they fully live out their life cycle and help avoid the purchase and production of new tools, which consume energy and resources.
Are you a private person, a member of an association or a company and do you want to contribute to the promotion of the circular and sharing economy ? Donate your used hand tools and give them a second life.
